New Electric Vehicle (EV) Fleet Arrives for Government of Saint Lucia

The NDC-TEC Programme and the government of Saint Lucia are celebrating the arrival of the first batch of electric vehicles (EVs), part of a larger fleet of 22, destined for government services, signaling a national mission to modernize the transport and energy sectors.

The rollout has already hit the ground running; specialized units for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force are now outfitted with tactical gear and sirens, and the first 2 vehicles were handed over to officials on March 4, 2026.

“We aren’t just replacing engines; we are building a blueprint for a resilient, low-carbon ecosystem,” says Antonio Sealy, E-Mobility Technical Advisor of the NDC-TEC Programme. Data gathered from these diverse government departments will provide the evidence needed to scale e-mobility island-wide.

Supported by technical lead CCREEE, this pilot serves as a beacon for the CARICOM region. Over the next few months, the remaining vehicles will continue to arrive at Port Castries, steadily bringing the fleet to its full strength of 22 units. By mid-year, an official handing-over ceremony will formally commission the fleet. This event will celebrate the collaboration between the government, CCREEE, and the NDC-TEC project.
